Two stamps can share a window and still call themselves a set
We gap irons by spin loft and height, not by the number on the sole. If the 7 and the 8 leave the face with the same window, one of them is unemployed.
How the sash treats a set
Median per club, then the ladder
A Sash Hour is one iron — usually the liar, often a 7. A Prairie Pair is two, so we can see whether the window steps. A Full Casement is the ladder. We do not “feel” a set in ten minutes and then sell you new cavities.
Strong modern stamps look tidy on a spec sheet and then stack spin loft in the middle of the bag. That is how a 7-iron becomes a second 8 in river humidity. We would rather bend or recut than pretend a new cavity will invent a window the last cavity could not hold.
Shaft weight and profile change delivered loft at speed. Cole will not rebuild six irons in a sash hour. He will change the one that is the rumor and then, on a dark day, match the rest if the ticket says the window is worth copying.
Wind is a gapping tool here
A 7 that flies 165 in still January air and 148 into a June south wind is not “inconsistent.” It is a wide window paying prairie rent. We write both numbers when the fan is on. People who only want the pretty indoor carry can buy that comfort somewhere with a couch.
